Mission
Vance Community exists to give veterans, people in recovery from substance use disorder, and people living with mental health conditions a safe place to live and a real, structured path back to independence — pairing dignified, well-run housing with licensed clinical treatment and wraparound support, delivered with the same discipline and standard of care that built Southern Chicago Restaurant into a trusted name. We believe recovery succeeds when housing stability and clinical treatment — whether the need is substance use, mental health, or both — are treated as one program, not separate hand-offs, and we build every part of Vance Community around that belief.

Vision
Within five years, Vance Community operates a licensed network of recovery residences and outpatient behavioral health treatment sites across Chicago and greater Illinois, recognized by veterans’ service organizations, hospital discharge planners, and insurance payers alike as a dependable, accredited partner — one whose outcomes, not just its bed count, define its reputation. The model launches at a 5-bedroom starter site in Chicago, where housing, substance use treatment, and mental health care are proven together under one roof. Once that site is licensed, accredited, and running with clean billing and positive margins, the plan is to build a 20-bed flagship facility on the same integrated model — large enough to support durable payer contracts and a full clinical staffing model, while staying disciplined about not scaling ahead of what’s actually working. Growth beyond Illinois follows only once the Chicago model is licensed, accredited, and consistently profitable on its own numbers.

Core Values
Dignity first. Residents are treated as guests earning their independence back, not as case numbers or
revenue units.
Evidence-based care. Clinical programming follows ASAM levels of care and accepted substance use and
mental health treatment standards — not whatever is easiest to bill.
Compliance as a core competency. In an industry with a real fraud problem, clean billing and documentation
are treated as a competitive advantage, not overhead.
Reintegration, not just sobriety. Success is measured by housing stability, employment, mental health
stability, and community reconnection — not just days abstinent.
Hospitality-grade service. The same attention to guest experience that runs Southern Chicago Restaurant
applies to how residents and families are treated here.
